How to Buy a Diamond

When buying a diamond or diamonds, the most important thing to determine right out of the gate is the long view. For example, if this is an investment diamond, like for an engagement ring that you plan to keep in your family for generations to come, your choices will generally be different than, say, a pair of earrings for Valentine’s Day.

In this article, I’m going to focus on the basics for purchasing a fine diamond. Some of these pointers would certainly overlap in a more casual purchase but I’ll address the wider range of variables for diamond jewelry gifts in one of my upcoming segments.

Since finding the perfect diamond for your loved one is ultimately such a personal and subjective decision, having an expert that you trust really understands your tastes and tolerances really makes so much more sense than buying something from an impersonal website on your own without an in-depth understanding of the subtle differences within each category that we analyze when selecting fine diamonds.
